Build Studios is a co-working space specifically for the built environment sector. Here you can collaborate with other architects, interior and landscape designers, planning consultants, developers and engineers whilst growing your business.
We are five minutes’ walk from Westminster and Waterloo stations, with direct transport links to the City, Canary Wharf and the West End.
We have dedicated office space for small companies, start-ups and freelancers, all with new ideas about how to address London’s problems. Flexi desks start from as little as £20 + VAT per month.
We want to promote collaboration, help grow what is already a strong built environment around Waterloo, and ultimately broaden access to the sector.
What we offer:
A unique, affordable working environment in central London.
Business support services, industry events, networking, mentoring and opportunities to collaborate.
We are a not-for-profit organisation with programmes to fulfil our social aims.
THE BENEFITS OF BUILD STUDIOS
While co-working spaces are common, you’re unlikely to find more than a handful of people from your sector in each.
Here at Build Studios there is a network of people just like you – to work, pitch, socialise and collaborate with. You can also keep up to date with changes in the industry through our regular events programme.
By being based here, you’ll also know that you are giving something back to the local community and promoting an inclusive built environment sector.
We offer a range of membership packages – whether you are an entrepreneur in need of a flexible deal once or twice a week, to the start-up in need of a full-time desk for five or six employees.
Choose from fixed, fixed-flex and flexible desk options.
Clients and guests are always welcome, and we offer a range of business support services, including model-making and 3D printing.
You don’t need to worry about business rates, utilities and cleaning – they’re all included – and for a small fee individual phone lines can be installed too.
There is secure cycle storage, lockers and free tea and coffee.
Build Studios runs a range of member socials, training workshops and sector events. We also host curated events by partners such as the Museum of Architecture, as well as education and outreach sessions with young people, returners to work and other excluded groups.
The event space and meeting rooms are also available for hire for external events, supported by conferencing facilities such as catering, audio visual technology and support to plan your event.
Build Studios is a not-for-profit organisation with a strong set of core values.
Waterloo has a shortage of affordable workspace. We carefully design and price our services to make ourselves as accessible as possible to new companies in the built environment sector.
We support new companies in the sector with ongoing education, training, access to mentoring and tools to help their businesses grow.
We actively design and refine our space, prices and activities to create the right environment for businesses to thrive.
We build strategic alliances and partnerships with businesses, industry organisations, institutions, referral partners and the public sector to increase our collective impact.
We champion our members’ success
and explore ways to create commercial opportunities for businesses we work with.
We challenge ourselves, and the businesses we connect with, to consider and address urban issues – particularly those in the local area.
Access & Opportunity
We embrace equal opportunities and seek to broaden access to the sector, particularly among young people, through awareness- raising and educational programmes.
Build Studios is a not-for-profit company committed to developing a socially responsible built environment sector. Our members embrace the opportunities we give them to work with the community to improve access, aspiration and cohesion.
Our social aims are to:
Raise aspirations among young people from Lambeth and Southwark and to educate and encourage them to work in the built environment sector
Improve access to, and diversity within, the sector for ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ groups and those
from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds
Address key challenges facing the built environment, particularly on a local level, including those identified in the South Bank & Waterloo neighbourhood Plan
Develop a dynamic membership and encourage growth through collaboration.
Our members are asked to commit to participating in our social value programme in a way that best suits the aims and skillset of their business.
