A great passion for the art of the crafted cocktail and its potential to transform experiences brought Elad Zvi and Gabe Orta together in 2009 to form Bar Lab; a one-stop consulting agency and internationally recognized and highly-influential hospitality management company.
With over twenty-five years of experience, Elad and Gabe have re-energized the hospitality industry by creating unique and eclectic food and beverage programs for bars, restaurants and hotels around the world. As co-founders and operating partners of Bar Lab, the duo launched their first bar, Broken Shaker Miami, in 2012, followed by the Broken Shaker Chicago, Los Angeles and New York, 27 Restaurant, The Exchange, Rudolph’s Bar & Tea and The Anderson. Each venue is designed to offer a one-of-a-kind experience that transports each guest to a different time and place and draws inspiration from the diverse communities of the neighborhoods they reside in.
Elad and Gabe’s claim to fame started with their award-winning handcrafted cocktails, which led them to open Miami’s first pop-up bar in 2012, the Broken Shaker at the Freehand Miami. The bar was an immediate success and what was was meant to only be a 30-day pop-up resulted in a partnership with the Sydell Group, giving the Broken Shaker a permanent home.
In addition to consulting, Bar Lab continues to expand its brand portfolio. In 2015 Bar Lab opened 27 Restaurant at the Freehand Miami and the Broken Shaker Chicago. The following year Bar Lab opened it’s third Broken Shaker location in Los Angeles and The Anderson, another unique bar and out-of-the-box concept, in Miami. In 2018 Elad and Gabe realized a lifelong dream when they opened the fourth Broken Shaker location in New York.
Bar Lab has been awarded numerous professional accolades and honors, including: twice named a James Beard semifinalist for Outstanding Bar Program in 2013 and 2014; ranking on the World's 50 Best Barslist: 2014 #22, 2015 #14, 2016 #16, 2017 #18; twice the winner of the coveted Spirited Award at Tales of The Cocktail for Best American Hotel Bar in 2015 & 2018; and The Anderson was voted one of Esquire’s Best Bars of 2018,
