What is Diversity?
The concept of diversity encompasses acceptance and respect. It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences. These can be along the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, or other ideologies. It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment. It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual- Queensborough
Diversity means having distinct or unlike elements. In a workplace, diversity means employing people who may be different from each other and who do not all come from the same background. The differences may be those of national origin, physical appearance, religion, education, age, gender, or sexual orientation- encyclopedia
Diversity is about including different ideas, backgrounds, and opinions in the mix when making key decisions, developing and generating new ideas and solutions to our internal challenges, and also to our clients’ toughest challenges externally. It is about encouraging a variety of thought, embracing new ideas and creating a culture that fosters innovation by valuing these differences- Colliers International
