Theresa A. Dear is a business and social entrepreneur, speaker, author and advocate. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of HR4NON-PROFITS Inc, a national human resources and training consulting firm which launched the Human Capital Strategy Group. The Human Capital Strategy Group is a national management consulting firm. She is also the visionary of the Incubator Project, the philanthropic arm of HR4non-profits.
She is the creator and host of the Let’s Get to Work Show broadcasted on Saturday mornings on WVON 1690 AM in Chicago. The mission of the show is to empower, equip, enable and encourage transition from unemployment to advancement in employment and entrepreneurship.
Theresa is a consistently visible leader in the NAACP. She is a member of the National Board of Directors and has been consistently and unanimously re-elected. In 2006 she was appointed to lead the national training initiatives for over 2,000 units in the Association. In 2008, she was appointed to the search committee to select the national President and CEO, Benjamin Todd Jealous. In 2013, she was appointed to chair the executive search committee for the NAACP's new president & CEO, Cornell William Brooks. She currently serves on the executive, personnel, labor, housing and religious affairs committees.
She serves on the One Hope United and Roseland Community Hospital Foundation boards. Both organizations are located in Chicago.
Theresa received her Master of Science in Industrial Relations and Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Development from Loyola University, Chicago. With more than 25 years of human resources generalist experience, Theresa has worked for fortune 500 companies including AT&T. Twelve of those award-winning years were at the executive level - she served as Vice President of Worldwide Human Resources at SPSS (an IBM company), Vice President of Human Resources at Verizon and as Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Metropolitan Family Services.

I was the first African American board chair in the 123 year history of the organization. It was demanding, challenging and extraordinarily rewarding. I worked with some amazing people! A few accomplishments during my tenure included but were not limited to: Increased the board diversity composition from 10% people of color and 20% women to 40% people of color and 50% women, managed the executive transition of an exiting CEO, appointed an interim CEO, led national search for new CEO, added M&A committee structure, named campus and school wing after board members and implemented life director model and new giving and leadership models for former board members and stakeholders of One Hope United. Recently named the first Life Director and Chair Emeritus.
