During our first conversation with Paul McVeigh, we discuss:
Growing up in Belfast, "I think helped me to have an appreciation and gratitude for the good things in life, and it undoubtedly toughened me up and gave me an inner resilience".
14-year-old Paul McVeigh who signed schoolboy forms with Tottenham Hotspur to the 32-year-old Paul McVeigh who finished his football career with Norwich City at the end of the 2009/2010 season then it was in my psychological approach and attitude that I took quantum leaps forward.
You were taught early - three Ds – drive, dedication, and determination – that would decide whether I had a long-term career. There are lots of moaners in all walks of life and the danger is that this leads to a negative mentality, blaming others, and playing the victim. It is imperative that we make the choice to take responsibility for our own actions, particularly in adversity. It can provide a real breakthrough in how we think and behave.
And the importance of smiling :)
